Chernobyl Heroes fire safety Academy?? one of the best educational establishments of Ukraine ? has celebrated its 40^th anniversary this year. For all these years since the seventies of the previous century the academy has been training lifeguards, specialists of the highest level including the heroes of Chernobyl heroes Volodymyr Pravyk and Viktor Kybenyuk, who the institution was named after. Among its alumni there is a large number of generals, which proves the highest educational level.

For six months already the academy has been headed by Vasyl M. Andrienko, major general of civil protection service, a candidate of historic science, an associate professor, an honorary worker of the civil protection service of Ukraine, a member of the Construction academy of Ukraine and an alumnus of this educational institution. His wide experience in various branches, which he gained working on different managerial positions, in particular the head of the capital construction management of the Ministry of construction, the head of the Fire safety department of Ukraine and many other which gave him the possibility to take the academy to a new level of development. The educational establishment is equipped with modern classrooms with interactive whiteboard and other devices for highly efficient learning process. Besides the learning process, a lot of attention is paid to the health and all-round development of the personalities of the students. A lot of work has been done to improve the facilities, medical care and meals of the students. In particular, old military beds in the hostels were replaced with the new ones with orthopedic mattresses. There were also new pillows bought and the dormitories were redecorated. Besides, tanks with clean drinking artesian water and dryers for footwear and clothes were installed and nine new washing machines were bought for students. To sum up, all conditions for proper rest were created.

One of the most significant recent projects has been the capital repair works in the canteen when the metal dishes have been replaced with the ceramic ones for the first time in 40 years. New fridges were also bought and the dish washing lines were fully reequipped: new Italian dish washers were installed. They were presented by the deputy of Ukraine Yan Tabachnyk. And the kitchenware was bought by the member of the Ukrainian parliament Volodymyr Oliynyk. Besides, there are sound systems installed in the canteen so the students can choose which music they want to listen to having their meals. The meals have also improved considerably in particular due to the bakery of the academy. To improve the appearance of the faculty and the students a dress making department was organized, which deals with making uniform.

The classrooms and training rooms were also renovated ? the lecture halls were repaired. In the renovated entry hall of the academy there are photos of the generals-alumni on one of the walls. Moreover, there are names of the all the alumni who took part in the damage control and recovery operation on Chernobyl nuclear power station carved on the Heroes of Chernobyl memorial.

One of the advantages of studying here is the possibility to obtain a driving license. For this purpose there are special classrooms and the educational establishment has a license. There is even an optional course of table manners.

The new rector pays a lot of attention to the fitness of the students. Due to his support the new modern sports complex was built where the youth can train not only during the classes, but also in their spare time. The result is a good fitness level and serious sports achievements of the students and the staff.
