“Cherkassytransgas” gas transmittal pipelines administration – the heart of Ukrainian gas arteries
Today, Ukraine?s gas transportation system is one of the greatest assets of the state, the guarantor of its energy security, and the pillar of domestic economy; and ?Cherkassytransgas? gas transmittal pipelines administration, which is the branch office of ?Ukrtransgas? public joint-stock company, is its largest gas transportation constituent. We strive to be the leader not only in production but also in all the areas connected with this business: corporate management, human resource management, industrial safety and environmental policy. 000000019
One of the most important tasks of ?Cherkassytransgas? GTPA is to ensure reliable operation of Ukraine?s gas transportation system in order to maintain the high competitive reputation of our country in the European gas market, and to carry out major construction works and current repairs of the gas transportation system objects. The enterprise consists of five local gas transmission facilities: in Kremenchug, Alexandrovka, Zolotonosha, Gaysin and Bar.
The enterprise activity is based on observance of certain principles, where the main things are to preserve the integrity and ensure the reliability and effectiveness of functioning of the gas transportation system:
- Planning and operational management of the facilities with account of gas supply modes,
- Ensuring reliability and ecological safety of the gas pipelines;
- Providing energy saving during gas transportation;
- Improving the consumer service;
- Introducing modern technologies in order to improve the effectiveness of the gas transportation system operation.
By far not every German or Italian knows, that it is in Cherkassy city, where the enterprise operates, the precision and reliability of work of which largely influences heat and light in their houses and at the enterprises. Eventually, ?Cherkassytransgas? GTPA cares also about Ukrainian gas consumers with the same attention, because it is also in charge of a series of pipelines which carry energy exclusively to domestic customers. In general, the administration transports 80-90 billion cubic meters of gas every year, servicing 4,485 km of main gas pipelines upon that. The coordinated work across this network, which covers 11 regions of the state, is supervised by more than 10% of the twenty-five-thousand personnel of ?Ukrtransgas? PJSC, who work in ?Cherkassytransgas?.
Although ?Cherkassytransgas? GTPA belongs to the youngest ones in the industry, it has long been among the first and most powerful ones in terms of the range of activity. Now, Cherkassy administration operates 20 compressor stations with 113 gas pumping units, with total capacity of 1.330 thous. kW, 186 gas distribution stations, and four gas measuring ones. Gas workers of the administration make a weighty contribution to the high production figures of ?Ukrtransgas? PJSC, which in 2013 were: 130.5 billion cubic meters of the total volume of transported gas, where 44.1 billion cubic meters were transported to the consumers of Ukraine, and 86.1 billion cubic meters were the transit to the countries of Western Europe and CIS.
The enterprise has counted years of service since 1978. It was then that the construction of ?Orenburg - Western Border? (?Soyuz?) main gas pipeline was completed. This main gas pipeline is designed to export natural gas from Siberia to Europe. It was for its service, that ?Exporttransgas? production association was created within the territory of Ukraine. From the first days of the association, Stanislav Sherekhora was appointed as its director, who headed the association team until 1996.
?Cherkassytransgas? GTPA is working on the reconstruction of the gas transportation system. It is planned during three years to reconstruct the linear portion of ?Urengoy?Pomary?Uzhgorod? main gas pipeline, and to modernize the telemechanics and communications system and two compressor stations. The total amount of investment at the first stage of reconstruction is 538 million U.S. dollars, including 230 million US dollars by own means of the enterprise
Today, the enterprise may boast with serious innovation achievements in the field of environmental protection. As long ago as 2001, the project of Environment and Energy-Saving Department of ?Cherkassytransgas? GTPA was awarded with a grant of 50 thousand USD under ?Ecolinks? program. And the grant organizer, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, recommended even to spread Cherkassy experience in other countries of the world.
And ?Cherkassytransgas? GTPA is especially proud of installing at Stavischenskaya compressor station, for the first time in the post-Soviet space, of ?Aquarius? pumping unit of steam-and-gas cycle with performance coefficient of 43% and heat utilization efficiency of up to 90%.
From 1996 to 2013, the enterprise was headed by Anatoly Mandra.
?The purpose of my life is to make the lives of the employees? families prosperous and happy, and to promote actively the development of the gas transportation system of Ukraine?, says Mr. Anatoly. Being a native of Cherkassy, he has been working in the gas transportation industry since 1974, just after his student days. He considers as his life principle not to make promises, which he won?t be able to fulfill. And the way to keep one?s word may be illustrated, for example, by the project, implemented by ?Cherkassytransgas? administration, which consisted in building a new, modern gas distribution station ?Budysche? and a spur pipeline from ?Soyuz? main pipeline in the territory of Zvenigorodka district in Cherkassy region. This infrastructure is unique not only because of modern technologies, but also because of the fact that with its help natural gas is now being supplied into the houses in Taras Shevchenko?s native land (into Moryntsi, Shevchenkovo and Budysche villages).
Since 2013, the team of ?Cherkassytransgas? GTPA has been headed by Andrey Mandra, who had worked as the head of Kremenchug local gas transmission facility before that. Mr. Andrey graduated from Ivano-Frankovsk State Technical University of Oil and Gas; he is a candidate of engineering sciences; and he is awarded with departmental and state decorations.
?The team of ?Cherkassytransgas? GTPA feels optimistic about the future. We work and develop, grow professionally and improve. The administration team is ready to do everything for the success of the state, the prosperity of Cherkassy region, and for making our children and grandchildren proud of the achievements of the enterprise. I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the veterans of ?Cherkassytransgas? and all those who bring Ukrainian gas complex to a new level with their daily work, and to congratulate the residents of Cherkassy with the 60th anniversary of the formation of Cherkassy region?.
