There is no such thing as bad land
For Chaikovka village of Khristinovka district in Cherkassy region, ?Chaikovskiy? agricultural LLC is virtually the only employer which gives job and, consequently, confidence in the future to more than 10 local residents. The farm is headed by Mr. Victor Pavlyshyn, an experienced agriculturist and leader. Having chosen agriculture as the path of life, and having got a corresponding profession, he came to the local collective farm still being a young boy. But after some time, he attained the job of chief agriculturist. And, when in 2000 the question of establishing a local farm came up, Mr. Victor was invited to take the lead of the new agricultural enterprise. And the villagers didn?t regret their decision. Despite the troubles common to the field of agroindustrial complex, which are connected either with weather, or with various economic factors, ?Chaikovskiy? agricultural LLC showed efficient operation. And though the farm doesn?t have much land - a bit more than 300 hectares ? this land produces not bad crops, providing the state with bread and the workers with means of living, and thus continuing the life of the small Cherkasskiy village. 000000005
The farm is developed by means of its own circulating assets, without raising loans. ?Loans are serfdom, - considers Mr. Victor Pavlyshyn. - We reckon on what we have. And this gives us the opportunity not only to work profitably, but also to develop slowly, increasing crop yield. Everything is interconnected in our business: the more you invest into the land, the better result you will get".
The main activity of the enterprise is plant growing. Wheat, barley, sunflower and soybeans are cultivated here. A little bit earlier people here were also engaged in cattle breeding, but the instability of the pricing policy on the market forced the head of the enterprise to abandon the branch which was unprofitable at that point in time.
?Farming is not easy, - the head of the enterprise says, - this year?s harvest is not bad, but there is no good price for grain. We will wait for the new year. Lease of shares adds troubles as well - one left, the other came, this one decided to have his own farm, and that one has a bad mood in the morning - so you have to come to an agreement with everyone. But we don?t cause offence to the villagers ? we live side by side, in one village, so we maintain friendly relations. And they turn to us for help, because there is no one else to turn to. Whether it is necessary to solve some problems, or to help financially, or to fix somebody up for a job, or just to plough a vegetable garden ? we try to help as much as possible. And we don?t refuse to clear the roadways in winter. Our fields are small - 30-50 hectares, and then the hills, where the crop yield is lower. But we work, because there is no such thing as bad land, one must be able and want to work?.
Mr. Victor is also disturbed by opening of the land market. ?In my opinion, land should be in a public domain, because many of the owners won?t be able to buy out their lands. And practically all the village depends only on our enterprise. The distribution of the land into shares was already not a very reasonable decision?.
A good team of true professionals has formed at the enterprise. ?Good guys are working for me; they could find a job anywhere, because good machinery operators are rare now. But it is convenient for them to work for me, because their families and children are close to them. And we already treat each other virtually as relatives as well. The only thing which I can?t stand is drunkenness. Because it is harmful for production, and a man can cripple himself. And one can to buy metal ware, but can?t return health?, tells Mr. Victor Pavlyshyn.
For the anniversary of the region, above all I wish health, good luck and peace in family, and in terms of welfare, we will earn money for it.
